NORWICH – In a five day stretch in February, the Norwich Boys’ Varsity swim team had their last two dual meets of the season. On Feb. 2, Norwich went against Waverly at Waverly, where the score of the meet was Waverly 63 and Norwich 42.

Scoring points for Norwich were the 200 medley relay of Amon Oliver, Kris Deuel, Nate Shtrauch and Sharon Thinagaian with the time of 2:19.61. Nate Shtrauch had a second place finish in the 50 free with a 26.74 and came in first in the 100 back with a time of 1:07.19. Kris Deuel was first in both the 100 free and 100 breast with times of 57.25 in the free and 1:14.12 in the breast.

Amon Oliver earned first place in the 500 free with a 6:26.64. Sharon Thinagaian took fourth in the 50 free with 38.19. Sharon, Kris Amon and Nate swam to a second place in the 400 free relay with a time of 4:27.08.

On Feb. 6, the team traveled to Oneonta High school for the final dual meet. The score was Oneonta 62 Norwich 31. Norwich earned two first place finishes from Kris D. in the 500 free time of 5:40.95 and the 400 free relay of Amon O., Nate S., Kris D. ,and Sharon T. with a time of 4:27.50.

Nate S. was second in the 500 free time of 5:51.77 and finished third in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:29.62. Amon O. was third in both the 50 free time of 29.72 and in 100 free time of 1:03.52. Sharon T. finished fifth in the 50 free time of 36.95.

The team now gets ready to compete in the Section IV, Class B meet held this evening, Feb 14 starting at 5 p.m. at Maine- Endwell high school. The finals will also be at ME on Sat. the 17th starting at 4 p.m.
