Girls’ Basketball: S-E Tops Canastota

CANASTOTA – Coming off a tough loss to Little Falls, the Sherburne-Earlville girls’ basketball team traveled to Canastota to take on the Raiders for the final league meeting of the season. S-E swept the series with a 61-52 win, which is their 12th victory of the season. S-E is currently third in the Center State Conference Division I with a 5-4 divisional record and sits at 12-7 overall with one final regular season game left.

S-E stayed consistent throughout the contest with Canastota threatening late in the fourth quarter. S-E was only down in the first quarter as the Raiders matched their hot start and outscored them 15-11 in the first eight minutes, showing intensity. S-E took a brief 28-26 lead at halftime before gaining a additional boost in the final 16 minutes of play.

S-E was also nearly perfect in free-throw shooting, making 14 of 17 shots. Alex Grzymkowski, Todd-Rogers, and Alyse Brown hit all their free-throws.

Alex Grzymkowski and Hannah Todd-Rogers both had a big game for the S-E offense. Grzymkowski posted a team-high 19 points and five steals. Todd-Rogers added 16 points with seven rebounds. Chesnee Miller also had five steals and excelled with nine points, nine assists, and nine rebounds. Alyse Brown contributed with eight points and led the team with 10 rebounds in the win.

S-E (12-7) heads to Clinton on Thursday, February 15 at 5:30 p.m. to wrap up the regular season before playoffs.
