SPENCER – The Greene Trojans girls’ basketball team is beginning to wrap up a strong regular season and has just one game left until playoffs after defeating Spencer-Van Etten on Thursday. The Trojans picked up the 42-21 victory, which was their 16th win of the season.

After a slow start for both teams, Greene went to work to take a 19-11 lead at halftime. The Trojans’ defense continued to pressure the Panthers after the break, holding them to just two points in the third quarter, and went on a run on offense. Most of the scoring came from the foul line. Greene had some success with making 14 of 24 free-throws.

Claire Flanagan led all-around team efforts with eight points and went three-for-four at the line. Mia Yahner, Molly Cornell, Cali Knapp, and Lyla Biefeldt all added seven points with Knapp also going three-for-four at the line. Abby Yahner had five points as Josie Dutcher was held to a single free-throw.

Greene heads to Marathon on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
