BAINBRIDGE – After two tough games against Sidney and Sus Valley, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats boys’ basketball team put all that behind them to prepare for Thursday’s match-up against Deposit-Hancock. It was the final regular season home game for the Bobcats, where they honored seniors James Hogroian, Arien Sherman, and Giovanni Johnson prior to tip-off. B-G celebrated their seniors with a 56-47 victory.

B-G has impressed in league play this year and got off to an early start with its top senior James Hogroian pushing 10 of the team’s 17 points in the first quarter. However, Deposit-Hancock caught up in the second quarter, where B-G took a brief 23-21 lead at halftime.

Both teams looked ready to play after the break with B-G looking the most fiery. The Bobcats stepped up with 22 points in the third quarter, where again Hogroian posted 10 points, but had some help. Isaiah Hampton, Michael Lipani, and Timmy Kinter knocked in three’s to help keep B-G’s confidence up going into the fourth quarter. Deposit-Hancock threatened, but B-G did not slow down and were able to secure the victory, which was their 11th win of the season.

Hogroian led the Bobcats with a dominant 30 points while Hampton and Sherman tied with eight points each in the win.

B-G finished the regular season with an 11-7 record and 7-3 in the MAC league. With Walton/Downsville’s loss to Greene, B-G secures the number four seed for playoffs and are expected to face off against Delhi in the first round of the playoffs, who they faced in the MAC championship game last year. Other league teams are wrapping up their final games, so the playoff brackets will be available following the end of the regular season.
