Girls’ Basketball: Greene Dominant Vs Harpursville

HARPURSVILLE – The Greene Trojans girls’ basketball team is so close to ending one of their best seasons with two regular games remaining. Greene excelled against Harpursville 54-24 to add on to their win column, both divisional and overall. The Trojans remain perfect at 9-0 in the MAC division II while standing tall at 15-1 on the season.

Greene got off to a great start in the contest with firing up 31 first half points and held Harpursville to just seven to take a dominant lead at the break. Mia Yahner scored five of her 11 total points in the first quarter and steadied herself throughout the remainder of the game.

It was a team effort in the second half with Greene continuing to hold the Hornets and finishing strong at the foul line with making a total of six-of-12 free-throws. Abby Yahner went three-for-four at the line and finished with nine points. Josie Dutcher also had nine points with Claire Flanagan behind her at seven points.

Molly Cornell and Cali Knapp both had six points as Lyla Biefeldt, Kenley Jenks, and Mya Leggett contributing with two points in the win.

Greene has two road games remaining on the regular season schedule. They travel to take on Spencer-Van Etten tonight at 7:30 p.m. before taking on Marathon on Saturday.
