BAINBRIDGE – With both teams coming off tough losses, it was time to face off one final time this season. The Bainbridge-Guilford Lady Bobcats welcomed the Oxford Blackhawks girls’ basketball team to their home court on Wednesday, where B-G came out on top 51-29. This win only helps B-G’s chances to finish strong in the MAC division II, where they currently sit behind UV, whom they’ll face next.

B-G paced themselves from start to finish, where they excelled on the boards and played a pressure-heavy defense that held Oxford to single-digit scoring. The strong defense is what has been helping B-G strive this season, except for in tough games against Greene and other challenging opponents.

For the Bobcats, it was an all-around team effort with every player scoring at least two points in the contest. Marissa Mayo and Johnna Henderson both posted 13 points with Mayo hitting three three’s. Johnna Henderson also added seven rebounds as Peyton Umbra finished with eight points and had five assists. Jayslin Henderson matched Umbra’s efforts with eight points and five assists as well while also adding six steals to her night.

Oxford’s Raya Warner led the team with eight points as Taegan Manwarren had six points and Emily Holbert added four. Margaret Rovente, Emmalee Reiss, Jocie Finch, and Ava Benjamin all scored two points in the loss.

B-G hosts Unadilla Valley on Friday at 6 p.m. while Oxford hosts Marathon tonight at 7 p.m.
