MOUNT MARKHAM – After winning the CSC league tournament, the Sherburne-Earlville wrestling team returned to the mats on Saturday for the Section III Class D tournament, held at Mount Markham high school.

S-E kept their eyes on the prize with winning yet again another big event, where they are riding high on winning their sixth straight contest. S-E walked away with a first place finish in the class championships with three individual champions and 11 wrestlers who've qualified for sectionals.

Congratulations to Jackson Moore, Aiden Kiehn, and Landon Andrade for winning their respective weight class at the tournament. Moore, in the 108 weight class, won all three matches on the day, which included two pins and an 8-2 decision against Little Falls' Garrett Serow in the finals, who he had previously defeated in the league tournament as well. Aiden Kiehn only had two matches to get through, which he did for the 190 weight class. He went up against teammate Richie Fuller for one match, where he won by a 5:15 pin. Fuller came in third place, where their match was his only loss.

Andrade keeps the hype going throughout his junior season with back-to-back Class D championship wins in the 285 weight class. Andrade went 4-0 with four quick pins, where his quickest was in 14 seconds against Little Falls' Clark Rodger in the finals match. Andrade leads the team with a dominant 33-2 record.

Aside from those top wrestlers, others, such as Nick Miller, Justin Race, Cody Clarkson, Cameron Mason, and Selina Moore worked hard to place well. Race had the most matches on the day with five and went 4-1. He earned three wins by pin and a major decision win. His only loss was to Cooperstown's TJ O'Connor in a 2:14 pin. Race defeated South Lewis' Maximus Seller twice during the tournament with one 1:39 pin and then by a 9-1 decision in the 152 weight class. Miller finished third in the 160 weight class with wins all by decision. He had two wins against Little Falls' Gunnar Cushman.

Clarkson came away with third place in the 170 weight class, where he defeated Mount Markham's Ethan Evangelow in a 46 second pin before taking down Morrisville-Eaton's Cameron Winn in 2:17. His only loss was to South Lewis' Isaac Gibson in 1:17. Mason, who also competed in five matches throughout the tournament along with Race, finsihed fourth in the 138 weight class. Mason had three wins by pin, including a quick 48 second pin against Dolgeville's Caleb Herringshaw. After finishing third at the NYSPHSAA girls' invitational, Selina Moore finished fourth in the 145 weight class. She won two matches with a quick 56 second pin against Beaver River's Carter Eaton before defeating Herkimer's Braysen Richard in 2:26.

Anderson also went 1-2 and pinned Morrisville-Eaton's Dawson Straight in 1:37 for his only win in the tournament.

Manny Hollins finished sixth in the 131 weight class, where he went 1-3 on the day. He defeated Little Falls' Nick Sylstra in a 11-1 major decision. Great efforts by S-E's Noah Ackerma, who also competed and went 1-2, but did not place.
