Boys’ Basketball: Greene Falls To Oneonta

GREENE – After defeating league opponent Afton on Monday, the Greene Trojans boys’ basketball team faced non-league Oneonta on Thursday night. Both teams matched in pace, but Oneonta had a slight advantage just before halftime that stuck in the second half. Oneonta picked up the 66-59 win.

Greene played its best at the start of the game with Jaden Eroshevich striving with nine of the team’s 20 points in the first quarter alone. His efforts were strong in the first half, but he was shut down in all the second half. Oneonta posted 21 points in the second quarter to take a 36-32 lead at halftime.

Joel Vielandi and Will Dunlap stepped up to keep the offense rolling throughout the remainder of the contest. Vielandi excelled with a team-high 17 points with his best seven points in the final fourth quarter. Dunlap, Eroshevich, and Trevor Ketcham all tied with 12 points as Colin Colgan knocked down two three’s for six points.

Greene (9-6) stays home to host Unadilla Valley on Tuesday for senior night at 7:15 p.m.
