Girls’ Basketball: Greene Stays Hot, Defeats UV

NEW BERLIN – After facing off in the UV Holiday tournament, the Greene Trojans girls’ basketball team faced the Unadilla Valley Storm again in Thursday’s MAC league contest. Greene earned its 11th win of the season with a 55-22 victory, sweeping the two-game meeting.

Greene played consistently well from start to finish while holding UV to nine points in the first half and 13 in the final two quarters. Greene’s Abby Yahner had an outstanding game with 21 points. She excelled with 12 in the first half alone. Teammate Josie Dutcher knocked in two three’s to contribute with 10 points in the win.

Adrienne Hodge and Jaiden Schrag tied with eight points for the Storm in the loss.

Greene leads the MAC division II standings with a 4-0 divisional record and an overall record of 11-1. The Trojans host Bainbridge-Guilford this evening at 7:15 p.m. in what should be a good game between both MAC powerhouses.

UV (3-11) hosts Oxford on Monday at 7:15 p.m.
