DELHI – Coming off a tough loss to Seton, the Norwich Purple Tornado girls’ basketball team faced Delhi in a STAC vs MAC league match-up. It was another tight game that this time went in Norwich’s favor 45-33. Norwich’s ability to hold Delhi to single-digit scoring in the first three quarters helped secure the victory, even with a late threat.

Norwich’s fierceness on defense helped pave the way for its offense to control the boards, taking a 26-14 lead at halftime. The Purple Tornado added 10 more points in the third quarter while they held Delhi to just four points, coming off the break. While Norwich slowed down in the final eight minutes, Delhi had their best chance with 15 points. Even with the big run, the Purple Tornado stood their ground to claim their seventh win of the season.

Emma Urgo led Norwich with 16 points as Olivia Schiraldi banked in three three’s to finish with 13 points. Josey Ryan was limited to just four points while Caroline Richardson, Julia Llewellyn, and Bella Dilorio all knocked in one three-pointer in the win.

Norwich (7-5) hosts Owego Apalachin on Tuesday, January 30 at 7:15 p.m.
