DRYDEN – On Friday, the Greene Trojans boys’ swim team traveled to Dryden in a competitive meet. The final score was a close one as Dryden won 77-73. Greene continues to drop swim times.

In the previous meet against Chenango Valley last Wednesday, Greene honored its seniors; Austin deHaan, Jon Westcott, Izan Romero Requena, Gavin Demars, Hunter Becker, and Dominick Kresin.

The senior class, led by deHaan and Westcott, has shown a lot of strength in their final season. deHaan and Demars, along with Drake Malmquist and Hunter Becker, swam a first place finish as a team in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:11.38. The Trojans achieved two second place finishes in the 200 yard relays.

Greene also had a great meet from their top swimmers individually. deHaan swam a first place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:13.56. He achieved a new best time in this event on Wednesday night (2:11.72). deHaan also earned second place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 59.57, behind teammate Malmquist’s top 57.87 seconds. Izan Romero Requena finished fifth in the same 100 freestyle event.

Malmquist earned a top finish in the 100 yard backstroke as well. He set a new personal best of 1:14.44. Hunter Becker finished second with his own best time of 1:24.02 with Sherman Ludolph in third (new PB 1:25). Ludolph also swam 50 freestyle event in 29.71 seconds with Romero Requena behind him (31.59) and Andrew Roberts in fifth place (36.56 seconds).

Jon Westcott achieved a new best time in the 100 yard breaststroke, where he finished first place with a personal best 1:21.88. He also took second in the 100 yard butterfly event (1:12.46). Fellow senior Gavin Demars swam the 200 yard individual medley for third pace, where he set a new personal best time of 2:51.08. Demars also finished fourth in the 500 yard freestyle (7:34.65) with Hunter Becker in second (6:37).
