SHERBURNE - The Sherburne-Earlville swim team honored their lone senior, Amon Van Alst in their final home meet of the season on Friday. The final score of the meet was Cooperstown 58 to S-E's 32. S-E continues to improve greatly to achieve personal bests and even make sectionals.

Van Alst swam two top finishes on his special night. He earned first place in both the 200 individual medley and in the 500 freestyle. In the 200 IM, Van Alst swam a season best 2:13.54 while completing the 500 freestyle in 5:21.67. Amelia Casscles and Ryker Fuller also swam the 500 freestyle event for the first time this season. Casscles finished in second place with a time of 7:45.81 with Fuller behind her (9:48.93).

Collin Maguire, Casscles, and Issac Larchar all swam in the 50 yard freestyle event, where they each earned personal bests. Maguire finished third with a time of 30.99 seconds as Casscles followed in fourth in 35.05 seconds with Larchar coming in after (39.79 seconds).

Lydia Larchar and Ava Flanagan also worked hard in their respective events, where they qualified for sectionals. Lydia dropped four seconds in the 100 yard breaststroke for second place. Her 1:24.71 also helped her qualify for sectionals. She also finished second in the 100 yard freestyle, achieving a new personal best time of 1:08.28, behind the leader's 1:05.08.

Flanagan showed strength in the 100 yard backstroke, where she qualified for sectionals with a time of 1:19.74 for third place. Parker McCracken finished fourth and set a new personal best time of 1:20.01. Parker also achieved a new best time of 2:27.13 in the 200 freestyle, which he finished second. Teammate Collin Maguire took fourth place in his first time swimming in the event with a time of 2:45.83.

S-E has one final regular season meet against Rome Free Academy on Tuesday at 5 p.m. before sectionals.
