NORWICH – A career expo was held at the SUNY Morrisville Norwich Campus on Wednesday, January 17.

The expo showcased the opportunities in Chenango County to potential employees, the community, and other businesses.

“This was a really educational experience, and it was refreshing to see employers out in the community,” said Kerisha, a recruiter from NYCM Insurance.

A diverse group of companies attended, including: Achieve, AmeriCU Credit Union, CDO Workforce, Chase Memorial Nursing Home, NYS Courts, City of Norwich, Curtis Lumber, DCMO BOCES, Fidelis Care, Golden Artist Colors, Howard Hanna Real Estate, Kerry Group, NBT Bank, Norwich City School District, nycm, NYS Veterans' Home at Oxford, Oliver’s Campers, Preferred Mutual Insurance Company, sfcu, Springbrook NY, Inc., SUNY Oneonta Extended & Community Learning Center, SUNY Morrisville, and The Raymond Corp.

“I am glad that we could get information out to people who really seemed interested. There were various age groups walking through, it is a good area and opportunity,” said Samantha Barbera, the Therapeutic Recreation and Respite Coordinator from Achieve.

And what a great opportunity it was, staged in the SUNY Morrisville Norwich Campus community room. The tables were set up so applicants and community members could move through and stop at tables freely.

Thomas Pilewski, Executive Director of the Campus said “SUNY Morrisville-Norwich is proud to collaborate, host and support events that bring the community together especially employers and potential employees.”

Commerce Chenango President and CEO Salvatore Testani said, “Chenango County is a tremendous place to live and work. Commerce Chenango is excited to provide an opportunity for the public to explore and discover the career opportunities that exist in Chenango County.
