AFTON – With both teams coming off tough losses in their previous games, the Afton Crimson Knights and the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats boys’ basketball teams faced off on Thursday night. It was Afton’s senior night, where they honored Equan Patterson, Bob Mercilliott, Carter Burns, Spencer Wrench, and Aidan Rogers. B-G took the 54-46 win to spoil the special evening.

The Bobcats outscored Afton 28-19 at halftime with pressured defense that held the Crimson Knights to nine points in the second quarter. Afton continues to show themselves as a second half team, but B-G remained consistent, which limited any comeback.

B-G was led by James Hogroian with 19 points as Michael Lipani and Timmy Kinter worked hard to both finish with 15 points. Kinter knocked in four three’s in the win.

Afton’s Ryan Wright, Bob Mercilliott, Equan Patterson, and Carter Burns all contributed with 10 points as Spencer Wrench, Aidan Rogers, and Cooper Warren had two points each. Everyone on the Crimson Knights’ offense scored at least two points, which shows a strong team bond.

B-G sits in third in the MAC standings at 4-2 in the league and 8-4 overall. The Bobcats host Unatego/Franklin on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. Afton drops to 3-9 on the season and heads to Milford on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
