S-E Swims Against Thomas Proctor

UTICA – Last Thursday, the Sherburne-Earlville Marauders swim team traveled to Utica to take on Thomas Proctor. S-E continues to show improvement throughout every meet with multiple swimmers working hard to drop swim times.

Amon VanAlst and Parker McCracken paved the way for the Marauders with first place finishes. VanAlst swam two season bests in both the 50 yard freestyle and in the 100 yard butterfly that also were ranked and qualified for the Section III Class A championships held in February. He achieved a time of 24.73 seconds in the 50 freestyle while he finished the butterfly in 1:01.30.

Ava Flanagan achieved a new personal best in the 50 freestyle, where she finished third with a time of 28.56 seconds with Collin Maguire in fourth place and Issac Larchar in sixth.

Flanagan also finished third in the 200 individual medley and fourth in the 100 yard breaststroke. Maguire finished second in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:28.34 with Ryker Fuller in fourth place.

McCracken earned a first place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:42.36. He also set a new personal best time of 1:22.96 in the 100 yard breaststroke for second place with Lydia Larchar in third. Larchar swam a third place finish in the 100 butterfly as well.

Amelia Casscles set a new personal best in the 100 yard freestyle, where she came in third place with a new time of 1:19.78. Her top performance was a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 3:01.99. Fuller finished behind her in third place (3:43.29).

S-E hosts Cooperstown/Cherry Valley on Friday, January 19, where they will honor their lone senior Amon VanAlst before their 4:30 p.m. meet.
