GREENE – On Wednesday, the Oxford/Greene wrestling team hosted Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville at Greene high school. Oxford/Greene came away with a tight 39-36 victory against the Bears.

BGAH earned three forfeits on the night, including Darren Florance in the 116 weight class as well as Frank Parsons and Zane Mumbulo. Oxford/Greene had one forfeit win with Isaiah Sexton in the 170 weight class.

Kade Mustin kicked the night off with a pin for the Blackhawks in 2:36 against Blaise Loya in the 124 weight class. Teammate Troy Braman would follow with a quick pin on Glen Miller within 45 seconds. However, it was Oxford/Greene’s Aiden Marcin with the quickest pin of the night in 37 seconds against Olivir Hilts in the 145 weight class. Marcin stands at 14-2 on the season with nine pins.

Liam Pohli, Caden Smith, Urijah Dibble also earned wins for Oxford/Greene. Dibble defeated BGAH’s Damon Seymour in an 8-5 decision.

BGAH had a tough night on the mat, but watched Silas Greenman, Devon Rowe, and Elliott Briggs achieve wins in their respective weight classes. Greenman came away with the pin against Derek Renfer in 3:35 while Rowe pinned Jared Milk in 1:24 in the 190 weight class. Briggs capped off the match in the 285 weight class in a hard fought battle against Oxford/Greene’s Colten Button. Briggs finally got the pin down in 4:39.

The Bears will be competing in the Southern Tier Memorial Tournament over the weekend while Oxford/Greene will participate in the Cazenovia Invitational on Saturday at 10 a.m.
