S-E Swimming Kicks Off New Year Vs Cooperstown

COOPERSTOWN – The Sherburne-Earlville swim team returned to action after holiday break against Cooperstown on Thursday. The Marauders are continuing to improve on individual times throughout each meet.

Amon Van Alst, Parker McCracken, Lydia Larchar, Ava Flanagan, Collin Maguire, Amelia Casscles, and Ryker Fuller all stood out at Thursday's meet. Van Alst, the senior, achieved two second place swims on the day. He swam the 200 individual medley in 2:31.24 while swimming the 100 yard backstroke in 1:03.56, both coming away in second.

Ava Flanagan swam for a sixth place finish in the same backstroke event (1:21.73) as Parker McCracken earned a new personal best time of 1:22.96 for seventh place. Amelia Casscles took ninth place in the backstroke with her own new best time of 1:39.63.

Flanagan swam her best placement in the 100 freestyle event, finishing third with a personal best time of 1:03.98. Collin Maguire came in seventh place (1:16.20) as Casscles picked up another ninth place finish with a new best time of 1:21.23.

S-E also had four participants in the 50 freestyle with McCracken paving the way in third place, completing the event in 27.71 seconds. Lydia Larchar swam the event in a new best 30.23 seconds, which was good for sixth with Maguire behind her in seventh, setting a new personal best 31.34. Ryker Fuller earned a new best time of 40.34 seconds in 11th place. Fuller and Larchar both swam in the 100 yard breaststroke as well with both picking up personal best swims too.

Larchar finished third in the breaststroke with a new best time of 1:29.27 as Fuller came in fifth with his new best of 2:07.39. S-E heads to Rome Free Academy on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
