Wrestling: Norwich Competes At Saratoga Invitational

SARATOGA SPRINGS – On Saturday, the Norwich Purple Tornado wrestling team competed in the Saratoga Inivational held at Saratoga Springs high school. Norwich took 12th as a team and earned 46.5 points and Saratoga Springs, the host school, came away with the victory overall.

Norwich had two wrestlers place on the day with Maverick Beckwith finishing second in the 108 weight class and Pat White taking third in the 285 weight class. Beckwith went 2-1 with the only loss in the finals in a 9-7 decision against Ballston Spa's Ralph Keeney. Beckwith won by techincal fall and by a 2:17 pin against Putnam Valley's Kiernan DePrima.

White wrestled in the most matches of the day for Norwich, where he went 4-1. White's matches were all decided by pins. His only loss was to Putnam Valley's Jaden Tesher in a 1:04 pin. White's quickiest pin on the day was against Spaulding, VT's Phil Maurice in the third place match, where White came away with a pin in just 50 seconds.

Regan Roach, Braden Reid, and Evan Meek all went 2-2 in their respective matches while Jack Barnes, Cyrus Graham, and Aaron Bradbury lost both matches they competed in.

Norwich will be competing in the Southern Tier Memorial Tournament in Elmira over the weekend of January 13 and 14. Full results can be found on cnywrestling.com.
