Sheriff Charges Passenger With Intent To Sell Drug After Norwich Traffic Stop

NORWICH – On December 31, a Village of Sherburne resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for possessing drugs with an intent to sell them.

Members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested Cody Jay Amidon, 22, of Sherburne, after conducting a traffic stop on a motor vehicle for an equipment violation in the Town of Norwich.

Police said a subsequent investigation found, Amidon, the passenger, had a backpack containing methamphetamine, a digital scale, and packaging material in his possession.

Amidon was charged with fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance - intent to sell, a felony. He was also charged with two counts of second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors. Amidon will appear in the Town of Norwich court at a later date.

All crimes described are allegations and suspects named are innocent of the charges until proven guilty in a court of law.
