S-E Winter Track Starts 2024 At Colgate

HAMILTON – The Sherburne-Earlville winter track team kicked off the new year in the Art McKinnon meet held at Colgate University on Wednesday. The girls finished 11th in team results with 10 points as the boys ranked 12th (14 points) out of a total of 13 schools altogether. Full results can be found at ny.milesplit.com

Girls:

The Marauders girls were led by Savanna Hook, Avery Solloway, Madalyn Jones, and Savannah Born. Hook, a sophomore, earned a new personal best in both the 55 meter hurdles and in the 600 meter run. She completed the hurdles in a new best 12.13 seconds for 20th place and ran a best 2:00.39 for 13th in the 600 meter run.

Solloway finished fourth in two of her events. The freshman picked up a new personal best time of 8.04 seconds in the 55 meter dash with teammate Madalyn Jones earning a new best of 8.80 seconds for 21st and Savannah Born came in 25th. Solloway also achieved fourth place in the high jump with a jump of four feet, seven inches.

Boys:

Aidan Camenga, Ryan Solloway, Michael Fetzko, Sean O’Connor, Braden Lewis, and James O’Connor paved the way for the S-E boys. Camenga led the team with two top five finishes. The senior finished third in the 55 meter hurdles, where he earned a new best time of 9.11 seconds. He also came in fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 36 feet, four and a half inches. Teammate Michael Fetzko finished behind Camenga in sixth place in the same jump (35-7.75).

Solloway came away with a eighth place finish in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:38.61. Braden Lewis (14th) and James O’Connor (16th) also competed in the same event. Senior Sean O’Connor capped off the day with an 18th place finish in the 1600 meter run, running the event in 5:30.48.

S-E will be back in action on January 20 at Onondaga Community College, starting at 10 a.m. From there, the Marauders will finish off the 2023-2024 season in continuous meets held at that same location.
