SHERBURNE – It was an intense night at Sherburne-Earlville high school as the Lady Marauders took on an undefeated Little Falls in a CSC league match-up. S-E fought back from what was once a 10-point deficit to have a good chance at winning. Every time S-E looked like they would pull it off for the win, Little Falls kept tying the game. Within the final four seconds, Little Falls tied again and forced overtime, staying unbeaten with a 63-59 victory.

S-E was so close to pulling the upset for its home crowd, especially with its senior guard Hannah Todd-Rogers dominating with 25 points on the night, including leading the team with eight points alone in overtime. The last two baskets Todd-Rogers made could’ve been game-winners, but Little Falls tied the game each time. Chesnee Miller finished with 11 points and had 11 assists while Claire Barth knocked down a three to put S-E up one late in the third quarter and finished with seven points in the loss.

The Mounties were also consistent at the foul line as S-E struggled in foul trouble in the final 16 minutes of play. Both teams had at least one player fouling out and S-E had two by the final 10 seconds of overtime. Coming off a time-out, S-E had the ball and were down two in the final 6.6 seconds left, but turned the ball over, which lead the Mounties to add two more points on the board.

These two teams will play each other again February 5, where it’s expected to be another wild game. The Lady Marauders hope this one will go in their favor.

S-E (6-2) hosts Dolgeville in a non-league game on Thursday at 7 p.m.
