SIDNEY – Coming off a big win over Walton/Downsville on Tuesday, the Greene Trojans girls basketball team traveled to Sidney in a tough MAC league matchup. Sidney took the 43-40 victory, snapping Greene’s three-game win streak.

The biggest factor that decided this game was free-throws, which Sidney held a big advantage. Sidney went 19-for 26 while Greene struggled with only making four of 13 attempts. Greene earned six free-throws in the final eight minutes, but only sinked in two, leading them to come up short.

Sidney also limited the Trojans from making any big runs as Greene is used to. Greene was held to single-digit scoring in the first and third quarters.

Josie Dutcher and Claire Flanagan were the top scorers for Greene as they both finished with a team-high of eight points. Mia Yahner, Abby Yahner, and Cali Knapp all tied with six points in the loss.

Greene (3-1) knows what they need to improve on ahead of Monday’s matchup against Spencer-Van Etten and should bounce back fairly quick before the scheduled 7 p.m. game.
