Girls’ Basketball: S-E Picks Up Fifth Win Of Season; Defeats Adirondack

SHERBURNE – After suffering their first loss of the season in a one-point game to Norwich, the Sherburne-Earlville Lady Marauders got back into league play, where they defeated Adirondack 49-37. With a strong 5-1 record, S-E sits in first place in the CSC division and are currently second in Section III, Class B.

Both teams were off to a rough start in the first quarter, but picked up the pace going into halftime. S-E had their best scoring second quarter with 20 points to take a 26-19 lead at the break. Efforts would only continue for the Marauders in the third quarter, which helped them achieve the overall victory.

S-E’s strong efforts were not limited as four players reached double-digit scoring. Senior Abby Shaver set the pace with a team-high 12 points as Chesnee Miller had 11 and went three-for-four at the free-throw line. Hannah Todd-Rogers and Alyse Brown both finished with 10 points and were big on the rebounding as Rogers led the team with nine as Brown had eight. Alex Grzymkowski finished with six points in the victory.

S-E heads to Herkimer on Friday at 7 p.m.
