LAURENS - Over the weekend, the Bainbridge-Guilford Lady Bobcats participated in the annual Pat Grasso tournament held at Laurens High School. After winning the tournament in 2022, the Bobcats finished second after falling to Tri-Valley league's Edmeston/Morris in the championship game.

B-G defeated host Laurens/Milford in the opening round on Friday 46-27. After Laurens/Milford had a strong first quarter, the Bobcats played agressively on defense to hold them to single digits throughout the remainder of the contest. Jayslin Henderson paved the way with 18 points while Johnna Henderson finished behind her with 15 points. Peyton Umbra knocked down a three to finish with five points in the win.

Friday's win advanced B-G to the championship game on Saturday against a tough Edmeston/Morris team, who won 47-37. The Bobcats could not stop Edmeston/Morris' leading scorer Molly Rifanburg who posted 30 of the team's 47 points on the night. B-G kept up with Panthers for three out of four quarters, but were held to just six points in the final eight minutes. Peyton Umbra put up three three's to finish with 11 points while Jayslin Henderson and Marissa Mayo tied with nine points.

Jayslin Henderson and Johnna Henderson were named to the all-tournament team for their efforts in the two games. B-G (1-2) hosts Deposit-Hancock on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
