DAVENPORT – The Unadilla Valley Storm boys basketball team fell short to Charlotte Valley 58-50 in Wednesday’s season opener. UV, who lost a handful of players as seniors last season, saw a few players step up from JV to fill their roles. The Storm kept up with the Wildcats, but it was the advantage in the first and third quarters for Charlotte Valley that sealed the victory.

Denzel Peter made his varsity start for UV and excelled with 22 points on the floor as leading junior Haywood Edwards returned to finish with 11 points, including one three-point shot. Zach Smith had nine points while Tucker Cattanach scored six and Declan Potter with two points.

UV (0-1) looks to quickly bounce back as they head to play in the Sherburne-Earlville boys tip-off tournament this weekend. The Storm will take on host S-E in the first round on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
