MARATHON – The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats girls basketball team is back for the 2023 season as they faced Marathon on Wednesday evening. The Bobcats suffered the 53-41 loss. Losing its senior team leader at the end of last season, the Bobcats looked to the key returners, who stayed up tempo with Marathon, but fell behind in the final eight minutes of play.

Sophomore Jayslin Henderson paved the way for B-G with 12 points as eighth grader Marissa Mayo started her varsity career on a high note with nine points. Tori Suda, Johnna Henderson, and Chandler Benjamin each finished with six points while Peyton Umbra scored two in the loss.

B-G (0-1) hosts the annual Pat Grasso tournament this weekend and will face Laurens/Milford in the first round on Friday at 7 p.m.
