NORWICH – The Town & Country and Norwich Garden clubs have teamed up to host the Seventh Annual Home for the Holidays decorating contest in December 2023. This competition is for residents in the City of Norwich. Judging will occur between December 4 through 9, from 5:30 to 10 p.m.

Judging occurs in the evening, so be sure that you use lighting to highlight your decorations. You do not need to sign up – just turn on your lights by 5:30 p.m. If you can turn a light on near your house number, that is a big help!

Residents can compete for recognition awarded in ten categories of exterior home decorating for the December holidays.

Winners will be announced in the Evening Sun and on our Facebook page shortly after judging is complete. There is no entry form or fee, however if you want to insure your home is judged, let us know by posting or messaging through our Facebook page,(facebook.com/HomefortheHolidaysNorwich2023).

Since the contest began in 2016, members from the two clubs have been delighted and impressed with all the beautiful and creative decorations they have seen. Both clubs encourage you to join in the fun by getting your house and yard holiday ready.

Holiday Decorating Categories are: Best use of White Lights. Best use of Colored Lights. Best Wreath. Best Door. Best Porch. Best Live Greens. Best Live Tree. Best for Children. Best Religious Theme. Garden Clubs “Choice’ Award.

Even if you do not enter, be sure to enjoy the festive decorations that so many neighbors and friends share. As in the past, there are sure to be many beautifully decorated homes this holiday season! Both clubs contribute to and encourage civic beautification. This contest has been a great way for us to add to these efforts – even in when the snow flies.
