ENDICOTT– Over the weekend, the Norwich Purple Tornado cross country teams participated in the 2023 STAC divisional championships, held at Union-Endicott High School. Norwich is in the STAC East division, along with Oneonta, Windsor, and Sus Valley.

The Norwich girls won the STAC East division for the first time in school history. Congratulations to Annie Boland, Kyra Brunick-Davis, Emilia Pepe, and Laci Zieno, along with Coach Shaun Horan.

The Purple Tornado were led by Annie Boland in 38th place with a time of 25:24.90. Kyra Brunick-Davis ran a time of 26:13.40 for 44th place as Emilia Pepe finished 64th (27:37.50). Laci Zieno rounded out the day for the Norwich girls with a 83rd place finish (41:04.30) in a field of 84 female runners.

The Norwich boys have been suffering this season without a full team, leaving them off the scoreboard, but still have a few dedicated gentlemen giving their all in every meet. Nic Sutton led the Purple Tornado with a 50th place finish in a time of 19:54.30. Gabe Decker came in 94th place (26:51.70) as Ayden Hatton rounded out the day with a 98th place finish (28:11.30) in a field of 100 male runners.

Congratulations Norwich girls and good luck to both teams as they prepare for the Sectional championship, held November 2 at Chenango Valley State Park.
