BINGHAMTON – The Afton/Harpursville Crimson Knights traveled to take on top seeded Seton Catholic in the Section IV, Class C semi-finals on Tuesday. Seton defeated the Crimson Knights 8-2, ending what was a good run to a sectional title, but an overall great season.

The score was notched up at two at halftime. Afton/Harpursville’s goal scorers were Bobby Mercilliott and Equan Patterson off Ryan Dawson’s assist. All three, along with the seven other seniors, have made a big impact on this great season. The underclassmen also proved themselves at the right time, shedding light to a bright future ahead.

Despite falling short one game away from the sectional finals, the Crimson Knights had a great overall season as they finished 16-2-1 with becoming back-to-back MAC league champions and hosting two sectional games that provided a lot of momentum for the team going into Tuesday’s game. Equan Patterson led Afton/Harpursville with 28 goals while Mercilliott finished his final season with 20 and Toni Obeada had 15 goals. Ryan Dawson led the team with 12 assists with Mercilliott behind him with 11, Obeada with 10, and Patterson had nine assists on the year.

Great season to all the players and coaches. Best of luck to all the seniors.
