WELLS BRIDGE  - Greene extends playoff streak to seven years (excluding the COVID-19 limited season) powering past Unatego on Friday in a key divisional matchup.

The Trojans (3-2) scored on six of their nine drives, and played physical, disciplined football against an opponent with a significant size advantage in most key positions.

“It was our most complete game of the season,” said Greene head coach Dave Gorton. “We did everything we wanted to do on offense. Defensively, we tackled better than we have been, and were more physical than we have been. It was great to see how well we played, overall.”

Other than a first-drive miscue in which it fumbled the ball at the Unatego-Franklin one, few things did go wrong for the Trojans (3-2).

Getting the ball back after that turnover, Greene scored its first touchdown moving 50 yards in six plays.

The Spartans did answer with their own scoring drive to tie the game, but it was all Greene from there.

Bill Dunlap hauled in a TD pass from Jaden Eroshevich for the go-ahead score.

Eroshevich had three TD passes on the evening finishing 11 of 14 for 256 yards. His second TD pass of the game to Joel Vielandi, another deep shot, put the game on ice.

Vielandi had four total touchdowns – two rushing, two receiving – finishing with 129 yards receiving and 101 yards rushing.

“It’s great to be back in the playoffs,” Gorton said, whose team can wrap up the outright division title later this month. “We have a great (playoff) streak going; easily the best in school history.”

Greene plays high-powered Trumansburg next week.
