NEW BERLIN – On Tuesday, the Unadilla Valley Storm volleyball team welcomed the Oxford Blackhawks on its senior night. After the intense history between these two teams in the past two seasons or more, new players got to experience the rivalry for the first time. Oxford won 4-1 and spoiled UV’s senior celebration.

Prior to the match, UV honored seniors Makayla Proskine, Arin Buchanan, Kiana Hoag, and Haylie Canfield and thanked them for their dedication to the Storm Volleyball program.

Despite the loss, UV won the first set of the game 25-18 before dropping the next three, but they kept pushing through.

The Storm were led by Arin Buchanan who racked up four aces, two kills, five digs, and five assists. Teammate Shyla Roberts finished with six kills, five blocks, and three digs while Shannon Gilbert had two aces, one kill, and seven digs in the loss.

Oxford stayed strong to earn their sixth win of the season. Ava Benjamin paved the way for the Blackhawks with two aces and 12 assists as Brianna Fowlston picked up two aces and three kills. Mya-Rae Roys had eight aces and two kills while Quinnlin LaMonica finished with two aces and four kills in the victory.

Oxford (6-1) heads to Afton/Harpursville on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. while UV (1-6) travels to Delhi this evening.
