OXFORD - After a hard road trip, the Oxford Blackhawks boys soccer team were happy to be home Friday, taking on Sidney. Oxford pushed through to score five goals in the second half to win 6-1.

Oxford had a lot to celebrate in their second win of the season with two players scoring their first varsity goals. Congratulations to Jack Knapp and Eddie Golden. Golden led the Blackhawks with two goals in the win while Knapp, Jerry Hornbeck, Gordon Smith, and Jared Sheridan each netted one goal apiece. Hornbeck, Isaac Utter, and Donovan Rickard added assists in the win.

The score was knotted at 1 at halftime as Sidney pressured defensively. However, Oxford played a better second half to limit the pressure and gain more offensive possession.

"We controlled the game through the midfield and played patiently possessing the ball until finding good scoring opportunities," Coach Corey Endress said. "It was truly a team effort."

Oxford had a total of 18 shots on goal and limited Sidney to just four.

Oxford heads to Delhi on Tuesday before hosting UV/GMU on Thursday under the lights at 6:30 p.m.
