EARLVILLE - Local musician Reyna Stagnaro is back by popular demand and is facilitating a three-part Songwriting Series and Showcase at the Earlville Opera House (EOH) called "Songwriting Workshops 2023.”

Classes take place on Saturday, September 23, October 14, and October 28 from 1-3 p.m. This opportunity is open to all levels and includes discussion and sharing of songs, writing exercises to inspire new songs, performance tips and techniques, networking, and collaboration. Participants are encouraged to perform in the Songwriter Showcase on the Main Stage on Saturday, November 11 at 7 p.m.

Arts Education is an important component of EOH programming, and this offering is a special opportunity for those interested in songwriting and creating original music. Bring your instrument and an original song to share or workshop. You do not have to present a song to participate.

Reyna will guide the class, offering helpful tips and techniques to grow your craft. A writing exercise will inspire new songs and group discussion and networking enhance the experience. All participants are encouraged to perform in the Songwriter Showcase.

For the following two classes you can bring your instrument and original song to share or workshop, perhaps one developed in Songwriting 1.   (You do not have to share a song to participate.) A new writing exercise will be presented, followed by sharing and discussion of songs that emerge. A collaborative, co-writing exercise may also be included. You will gain experience writing and presenting songs in a relaxed and supportive setting and receive feedback from the group. Reyna will share writing/performance tips and techniques that will help you move forward on your songwriting journey and bring your skills to the next level.

In addition, the Songwriter Showcase will be discussed, and collaboration encouraged. Last year some participants asked other group members to add musical accompaniment to their individual songs, and everyone joined in on a closing song. Showcase performance is optional, but encouraged.
