OXFORD – With both teams coming off playing in tournaments, the Unadilla Valley Storm and the Oxford Blackhawks girls soccer teams faced off in MAC league play. It was the third game for the Storm and the fifth game for the Blackhawks, who’d been in two tournaments. UV came away with the 5-0 victory.

The Storm were led by Natalie Crandall with two goals and one assist. The first goal was off a rebound for the first shot and goal of the game while the second goal came in the second half on a breakaway.

Natalie earned the assist as Jaiden Schrag scored with a big kick to the right side of goalie Raya Warner. Natalya Schrag and Lyla Taylor also scored a goal each in the UV victory.

Oxford’s Taegan Manwarren had a lot of great chances to score, but was pressured by the Storm defense. Jenna Denz replaced Warner in goal halfway through the second half and made three saves in the loss.

UV (2-1) hosts a tough, unbeaten Bainbridge-Guilford team on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. while Oxford (2-3) hosts Unatego this afternoon (Wednesday) at 4:30 p.m.
