Chenango County Helping Families Inc. will be hosting a Captain and Crew Golf Tournament at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on September 16 at Mountain Top Golf Course located at 3635 Route 80 in Sherburne, NY. All proceeds will go to Chenango County Helping Families Inc. to help local families in the area.

SHERBURNE — Chenango County Helping Families Inc. will be hosting a Captain and Crew Golf Tournament at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on September 16 at Mountain Top Golf Course located at 3635 Route 80 in Sherburne, NY. All proceeds will go to Chenango County Helping Families Inc. to help local families in the area.

Event Organizer Terry Potter said, “This golf tournament has taken place in Edmeston for almost 30 years but we decided to expand and do additional fund raising to help more families in our area.”

He said the families receive help with heating bills, electric, rent and they’re also helping a lot of families now with back to school supplies and clothing.

Potter said there is a limit of 20 teams and they’re still looking for six more. Teams will be divided into two flights; one flight to tee off at 8 a.m. and the latter will tee off at 2 p.m. Call Mountain Top Golf Course at 607-674-4005 to sign up before September 7 deadline.

“The entry fee is $325 per team or $80 per person, which includes skins, food, and beverage throughout the day,” Potter said. “We’re hoping to build another great fund raising event at this new venue to assist additional families.”

Cash prizes will be given to top three teams and prizes will be raffled off throughout the tournament.

“We know other organizations are really invested in helping families in the area and we're looking to supplement the great organizations that are already here. This is that time of year, going back to school and then leading up to Thanksgiving and Christmas that we remain committed to helping families,” Potter added.

“We appreciate the generosity of all of the great sponsors that make this possible,” said Potter.

Chenango County Helping Families Inc. helps support families throughout Chenango, Otsego, and Delaware Counties.
