NORWICH – The Norwich Police Department (NPD) concluded a four-month investigation into the sale of crack cocaine and fentanyl in the City of Norwich Monday afternoon.

Police made a number of arrests relating to drugs, forgery and open warrants related to the suspects not appearing in court over previous charges.

“Norwich is a great place to raise a family, and we will continue to shut these drug houses down that plague this community,” said NPD Police Chief Reuben J. Roach.

Police arrested the defendants at a residence on Fair Street, and another in front of a building on North Broad Street at the same time on Monday.

Roach said the department began an investigation into the sale of crack cocaine and fentanyl at multiple locations in the City of Norwich starting in May. Throughout this investigation, officers conducted numerous undercover drug purchases and conducted multiple hours of surveillance on many locations, he reported.

Roach said officers investigated drug activity that occurred at locations on East Main Street, Cortland Street, North Broad Street and Fair Street.

“The Norwich officers and detectives put a lot of hours into this case, and I am happy to report that we have shut down four drug locations in the City of Norwich,” said Roach.
