NORWICH – The first round of the Canasawacta Country Club member-guest tournament kicked off on Thursday morning and wrapped up in the evening. Lee Skillin and Jim Gorski shot the lowest score of a 64 on the par 71 course with fair weather conditions.

Everyone was in shock after seeing their impressive score and tried their best to achieve a similar outing. Other scores on the day ranged from a 67 to the highest 97. Last year’s winner Eric Walling and partner Ryan Hagen are tied with several others with a 69.

Friday’s course conditions could be wet with some rain in the forecast, making for a more challenging second round. The morning session starts at 8 a.m. while the afternoon group tees off at 1:30 p.m.

After today’s round, the nine flights will be determined and Saturday’s pairings should be announced later this evening and will definitely be listed before the 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.

Sunday, August 6 may be used for any delays throughout today and Saturday to complete any unfinished flights.

The next two rounds are anyone’s game as the game of golf is quite challenging. The Evening Sun will publish the final round scores and flight winners in Monday’s edition.
