PONY League Baseball: B-G Remains Undefeated With A Big Win Over Whitney Point

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford Thunder PONY League team hosted Whitney Point on Thursday, coming away with a big 12-2 victory. They are now 4-0 on the season with the battle of unbeaten teams (Norwich A and B-G) rescheduled for this evening.

B-G got started in the bottom of the second inning as Damon Seymour, who reached on a triple, scored on a wild pitch during Gavin Gifford’s at-bat. B-G added on to their lead in dynamic fashion, scoring eight runs in the third inning.

Three runs came on RBI singles, including a two-run single by Parker Buttice, two runs scored on passed balls as two runs came in on bases-loaded walks. A run was also scored on a hit by pitch with the bases-loaded. B-G batters were walked 14 times and collected 10 stolen bases on the night.

Damon Seymour went 2-for-4 while Buttice was 1-for-3 and both players drove home two runs each. On the mound, Brayden Swartwout was dominant as he lasted five and two-third innings, allowing two runs on three hits, but struck out a whopping 14 batters. Gavin Gifford came in to get the final out in top of the sixth inning, adding on to the strikeout count with one to make the total 15.

B-G takes on the Norwich A team tonight at 6 p.m. before hosting Oxford on Monday.
