S-E’s Athletic Hall Of Fame Inducts Two Into The Class Of 2023

SHERBURNE – The Sherburne-Earlville Athletic Hall of Fame held a ceremony on Wednesday to induct its newest members for the class of 2023. Congratulations to former coach Richard “Pete” Hausrath and former student Kelly Cooman Kingsbury. Both made a huge impact on S-E athletics.

Pete Hausrath

Pete made a positive impact on the S-E wrestling team and earned back-to-back Section IV Wrestling Coach of the Year honors in both 1978 and 1979. He is also inducted into the New York chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Pete, who has been involved in wrestling for over five decades, now serves as the Unadilla Valley assistant wrestling coach. Last year, UV combined with Unatego.

Kelly Cooman Kingsbury

Kelly Cooman Kingsbury was a three-sport student-athlete for the Marauders. She played field hockey, ran track, and played basketball, where she set school records in all three sports. The 2001 S-E graduate ranked fifth in Section IV with 120 field hockey points, received first team all-state honors, and set single-season program records in points (41), goals (18), and assists (16) during her high school career. She went on to Hartwick College to be the field hockey program’s top points producer with 164 points and was inducted into Hartwick’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012.

Following her playing career, Kelly served as Harwick’s assistant field hockey coach for three seasons before taking the head coach position at SUNY Oneonta in 2008. At Oneonta, she is currently the all-time winningest coach with 127 victories.

The S-E Athletic Hall of Fame inductions take place on odd-numbered years, alternating with the Wall of Fame inductions. The next athletic ceremony will be in 2025.
