2023 Curb Appeal Program Announced By Norwich Building Tomorrow Foundation

NORWICH –The Norwich Building Tomorrow Foundation is happy to announce the 2023 Curb Appeal Program. Formed in 2021, this grant program has assisted more than 25 property owners with various exterior improvements to their homes.

To date, over $250,000 in funding has been allocated and the results are very visible along the Rexford Street corridor.

The original program was created to encourage the revitalization of the Norwich Museum District neighborhood and it continues to expand to other areas within the District and City of Norwich.

This year the program will include the following targeted areas: Rexford Street (Silver Street to River Street), State Street (Rexford Street to the end of the Northeast Classic Car Museum building), Silver Street (Rexford Street intersection to Borden Avenue on the north side and Gold Street on the south side), and South Broad Street from the South Broad Street Park to the Conkey Avenue intersection.

The focus of the grant program continues to look to assist property owners with projects that improve the exterior appearance of their dwelling from the street. Successful applicants are eligible to receive up to 75 percent of the total cost of their improvements, with the maximum grant amount being capped at $18,000.

The minimum amount for a project to be considered for funding is $6,500. The scope of work must include improvements to one or more of the following: Architectural Details (addition, repair and/or restoration); Exterior painting and/or power washing; Doors, windows and shutters; Landscaping and sidewalks; Decorative entrance features and Aesthetic fencing. All grant awards in excess of $600 are subject to New York State tax.

Grant funding is provided by the Norwich Building Tomorrow Foundation in conjunction with other local foundations.

The Curb Appeal Program is being coordinated by the Friends of the Museum District Co-Chair, Pegi LoPresti, and decisions on funded projects will be made by members of the Norwich Building Tomorrow Foundation.
