NEW BERLIN - The South New Berlin Horseshoe Club returned for its 2023 season on May 3. Despite the rough weather conditions to start the season, teams are getting into more action after the third week of play. Kelly’s Flowers (Ed Kohler and Lee Coon) won it all in 2022 and are looking to repeat again against returning and new competition.

Rob and Lisa Rowlands on Angela’s Drunks with Rhythm currently sit in first place with a 9-3 record and 361 points. Team 15 with John Grossmann and Christopher Delfino hold the same record, but only have 348 points. Carey’s Ag Spreader Service, Rolling M. Stables, and Rustic Ridge round out the current top five.

The men were led by Tim Lidell, Ed Kohler, and Lee Coon. Lidell finished on top of the men’s high singles and high series with Kohler and Coon behind him in the second and third positions. Lidell scored a best singles game of a 78 while finishing with a 227 high series.

Lidell, along with partner Mike Grant, led their Baillie Lumber team to the two team handicap high singles and high series victories. Kohler and Coon’s Kelly’s Flowers held the top spot in both the team high singles and high series.

For the women, Kate Lloyd led both the high singles and high series with Cindy Miller and Sheryl Thurston behind her. Lloyd had a 81 for high game and finished with a 201 high series.

The South New Berlin Horseshoe Club meets every Wednesday night.
