CHENANGO COUNTY – Local golfer Bob Root shot a hole in one the par three sixth hole at the Red Pines Golf Course in Edmeston on Monday night.This milestone had last been achieved at the course in 2018 during league play and the excitement of it happening was felt among all the folks playing that night.

As a casual golfer, Bob plays weekly on a league and the occasional charity tournament - but he was completely in shock at the achievement,“It was a complete surprise, and truly didn’t sink in until I got back to the clubhouse.”  

There was also two hole in ones shot in Apple Creek in DeRuyter. Kayla O’Brian had a hole in one on the fourth hole, 140 yards out with a five iron. This play was witnessed by Chris Thomas on Monday. Donna Barber also shot a hole in one on the second hole in the women’s league. She used a eight iron to shoot the ball in at 68 yards. This play was witnessed by Caren Newton, Trina Purcell, and Terri Way.
