Doliver Proclaims May As Nurses' Month

NORWICH — At Tuesday's common council meeting, City of Norwich Mayor Brian Doliver proclaimed the month of April as Nurses' Month in recognition of the hard work and dedication of registered nurses in the Norwich and surrounding communities.

"Registered nursing profession means the different emerging healthcare to the American population in a wide range of settings, including the front line of the pandemic," read Doliver. "Professional nursing is an indispensable component of the safety and quality of care of hospitalized and non-hospitalized patients."

"More qualified registered nurses are needed in the future to lead the increasingly complex needs of healthcare consumers in this community," he added.

Doliver urged city residents to celebrate and show appreciation for registered nurses not just during Nurses' Month, but throughout the year.

"With appreciation for nurses unparalleled impact to a pandemic, and their contributions to healthcare in the world, therefore be it I, Mayor Brian Doliver, proclaim May as Nurses' Month, and ask the residents of the City of Norwich celebrate registered nurses' accomplishments and efforts to improve our healthcare system, show our appreciation for the nation's registered nurses, not just during this month but every opportunity throughout the year."
