LANSING – The Unadilla Valley/Sherburne-Earlville Storm softball team traveled to Lansing to face the Bobcats in the first round of sectionals. Due to the merger between UV and S-E, the Storm went up to Class B this season. Lansing scored three runs in the sixth inning to win 5-2.

UV got on the board with two runs in the top of the second inning as one run scored on an error on Kadence York’s pop fly, allowing Shelby Rose to score from third. Another run came home in the next at-bat as Natalie Crandall drove in Adrianna Allen on a two-out RBI single.

Despite both teams having eight hits, UV failed to touch home plate again. Crandall, along with senior Bella Jones, both collected two hits in the loss.

Lansing answered back in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game before the go-ahead and insurance runs in the sixth.

Despite taking the loss, Haleigh Fisher concluded her junior year strong for the Storm on the mound, where she struck out 11 batters.

UV/S-E finishes the 2023 season with a 8-6 record. Best of luck to seniors Kadence York, Bella Jones, Pyper Kneale, and Kailee Figger.
