OTSELIC – The Otselic Valley-Cincinnatus Vikings baseball team hosted a tough Brookfield team for the final home game of the 2023 season. Brookfield defeated OV 14-1 to clinch the CCL title.

The Vikings were held without a hit until the bottom of the seventh inning. Braeden Davis hit a single and scored the only run on offense off Lukas Schieferstein’s RBI double.

Cole Warren earned the start on the mound for OV-C, going five and two-third innings and striking out three batters. Caleb Loomis and Hunter Rozewski finished the game in relief and both struck out a batter.

The Vikings are currently 5-7 with one regular season game left on the schedule against McGraw this evening at 5 p.m from the Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex in Cortland, NY.

BASEBALL:

Sherburne-Earlville falls to Westmoreland 23-0 in final home game of the season. S-E did hit the ball three times in the contest. S-E travels to Clinton on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Norwich falls to Unatego in a non-league game 4-3. Unatego walked off in the bottom of the seventh inning off an RBI single with a runner on second. Senior Trent Marinelli led the Purple Tornado with three hits and one RBI. Nate Murphy, Jackson Sastri, and Kassen Stubbs also contributed with a hit in the loss. Trey Bates and Braden Reid combined with seven strikeouts on the mound in the final game of the season.

GOLF:

S-E falls short against Cooperstown 169-174. Garret Winton and Cooperstown’s Max Jones tied with a 40 as the top medalists. S-E’s Balin Olsen shot a 41 while Avery Parsons finished with a 44 and Parker Goedel with a 49. Cooperstown’s final golfers had scores of 40, 42, and 47 to secure the close win.
