SOFTBALL: B-G Defeats Afton

AFTON – After losing their undefeated campaign to Greene, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats softball team has won back-to-back games, including Wednesday’s 16-4 victory against Afton. The Bobcats bats were hot as they racked up 15 hits and tallied a game-high of six runs in the third inning to jump into a comfortable lead.

The B-G offense was led by Alessandra Cafasso, Johnna Henderson, Jayslin Henderson, and Madisyn Peck who all picked up multiple hits. Cafasso paved the way as she went 3-for-4 and drove in a run while Peck drove in two runs in the win.

Afton scored two runs in the third inning and two in the sixth with four hits on offense. The B-G defense also played a clean game with no fielding errors.

Celeste Baldwin was solid on the mound for the Bobcats. Despite giving up the four runs, she allowed four hits, five walks, and struck out 10 batters through 5.2 innings pitched. Gabriella Cuozzo pitched an inning of relief, where she struck out two batters.

B-G improves to 5-1 on the season and heads to Harpursville on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Afton hosts Greene on Monday, April 24 at 4:30 p.m.
