BASEBALL: Afton Defeats Harpursville

AFTON – After being shutout by Unatego on Tuesday, the Afton Crimson Knights bounced back with a 12-6 victory over Harpursville. Afton tacked on six runs in the sixth inning to earn their third win of the season in four games played.

After Harpursville tied the game at four in the fourth inning, Afton scored two runs in the fifth and six in the sixth inning to secure the victory. Leading the Crimson Knights offense was Carter Burns, Ryan Wright, Justin Reeve, Braden Sadlemire, and Hunter Baciuska. Burns (four), Reeve (three), and Sadlemire (two) drove in multiple RBIs in the win.

Hunter Baciuska, Burns, and Ryan Wright all racked up multiple hits. Ryan Wright also led the team with three stolen bases.

Justin Reeve started on the mound for the Crimson Knights, receiving a no-decision in four innings pitched. He allowed four runs on six hits, walked four and struck out 10 batters. Braydon Baciuska earned the win in relief as he finished the game. He allowed two runs on one hit, walked two and struck out seven batters.

Afton sits at 3-1 and hosts Charlotte Valley on Saturday at 11 a.m.
