SOFTBALL: Greene’s Yahner Pitches Second No-hitter Of Season To Hand B-G First Loss

GREENE – The Greene Trojans hosted the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats on Thursday evening with both teams coming into the MAC match-up undefeated. Payton Yahner threw her second no-hitter on the mound with 13 strikeouts as Greene shutout B-G 10-0.

Yahner also had tremendous support from her offense. Greene racked up 11 hits on the day with McKenzie Scott, Abby Yahner, and Cali Knapp all going 2-for-3 in the win. Rhea Malmquist also had an RBI in her at-bat as Abby Yahner led off the fourth inning with an RBI triple.

B-G did reach base four times in the loss. Breanna Casey would reach base in the top of the sixth inning on a bunt with an error on the throw to first. The Bobcats also reached three times on walks, but failed to score off a strong Trojans defense.

Greene (3-0) will head to Maine-Endwell this evening at 5 p.m. before hosting Oxford on Monday at 4:30 p.m. B-G (3-1) heads to Delhi on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
