BUFFALO – Over the weekend, the Norwich YMCA Dolphins swim team had a strong showing at the 2023 New York State YMCA Championship meet in Buffalo, NY.

The junior team (ages 10 & under) saw Maggie Williams place 17th in the 50 yard breaststroke (49.96) and 57th in the 50 yard freestyle (38.73). Kate Hull placed 12th in the 25 yard backstroke (22.01) and 26th in the 50 yard free (54.70).

To round out the junior swimmers, Kennedy Foulds took 27th in the 25 yard free (19.87) and 45th in the 25 yard back (27.53). Nora Diefenbacher had the best finish of the day as she swam the 25 yard backstroke in 20.67 seconds. She also finished 17th in the 25 yard freestyle event (18.92).

For the seniors (ages 11 & up), Timothy Guzewich led the group in three events. He came away with eighth place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.55, 13th in the 200 yard Individual Medley (2:25.98), and 16th in the 100 yard free (56.19). Alex Shtrauch placed 20th in the 200 yard free (2:37.37) and Rory Shtrauch placed 39th in the 100 yard Back (1:16.21).
