Sheriff’s Office Arrests Man For Grand Larceny

CHENANGO COUNTY — Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting Jr. reports that on March 5, 2023 detectives arrested a Town of North Norwich man for grand larceny.

A year-long investigation resulted in the arrest of Bruice A. Jeffrey, 35, of North Norwich on numerous grand larceny charges dating back to 2016. The investigation began in early 2022 when a report was filed with the Chenango County Department of Social Services claiming that funds had been depleted from the accounts of an elderly individual. The investigation was later turned over to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office.

It is alleged that from 2016 to 2022 Bruice A. Jeffrey had stolen more than $130,000 from the victim.

Bruice A. Jeffrey was arrested on March 5 by the Chenango County Sheriff's Office, Detectives Division and later released on an appearance ticket and is to appear in the Town of Sherburne Court on a later date.

Sheriff Cutting states that over the course of this year-long investigation the sheriff's office was assisted by the Chenango County District Attorney's Office, Chenango County Department of Social Services, and Action for Older Persons.

Jeffrey has been charged with second degree grand larceny, third degree grand larceny, fourth degree grand larceny, and petit larceny.
